Fundraising Officer Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and driven fundraiser to raise new income for the Charity. The fundraiser’s responsibilities would primarily be to identify and complete funding applications to funders as well as complete tenders and contracts but would also include developing fundraising programs/products, recruiting individual and corporate sponsors and volunteers, and encouraging support through promotional activities.

We want an experienced fundraiser who can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. We want a fundraiser who would be able to perform under pressure, possessing exceptional organisational and presentation skills.

This is a pivotal role, initially working on a fixed term basis, 24hrs a week. While the hours will be predominantly core business hours Mon-Fri. The site is 24/7 therefore some flexibility will be required on Nights and Weekends.

Fixed term contract – 6 months with possibility of becoming permanent

 

Key responsibilities

● Raise income for our Charity and regularly meet or surpass fundraising targets.

● Identify and complete funding applications to funders as well as complete tenders for contracts.

● Develop, organise and deliver fundraising events.

● Research potential individual and corporate donors.

● Develop our business fundraising strategy to include methods as to how to engage potential donors and other fundraising opportunities, including single events and detailed campaigns.

● Utilise social media where possible to improve fundraising activities.

● Assist in planning and coordinating events meant to raise income and coordinate activities of volunteers and interns related to event planning and execution.

● Create marketing materials, like flyers and brochures, to be used for the promotion of events and other fundraising initiatives.

● Maintain complete records of funders and manage regular funder communications including project reports.

● Write funding proposals and send these to potential sponsors.

● Support in completing new and existing monitoring.

 

General requirements:

● Experience of working as a successful fundraiser in the charitable sector.

● Knowledge of the challenges and barriers facing young people.

● Knowledge of the charitable sector and social enterprise.

● Must work flexibly to meet the needs of the project (including evening/weekend if required to meet funding application deadlines)

● Knowledge and understanding of GDPR regulations.

● Attend team meetings and be a proactive member of Yaseen Youth team.

● Work diligently to meet the requirements of this job description.

● Work in accordance with Yaseen Youth culture, values, aims and objectives.

● Act as a positive ambassador for Yaseen Youth at all times.

 

Job Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

● Experience of working as a successful fundraiser in the voluntary sector

● Degree level education or similar

● Excellent communication abilities

● Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail

● Proven track record of generating income for a charity

● Quick thinker and ability to make decisions under pressure

 

Desirable:

● Degree or equivalent in communication, public relations, journalism or related/applicable area

● Minimum two years of fundraising experience, in addition to managerial experienc
